Why we built Tickr

When we were in high school, neither of us could explain what a stock actually was. We could solve quadratic equations and analyze The Great Gatsby. But ask us why a company would IPO? Blank stare.

That's the gap Tickr exists to close. We took the parts of Duolingo that work — streaks, hearts, micro-lessons — and pointed them at the curriculum schools never get around to teaching.

The data is brutal. The FINRA Foundation's 2022 study found 66% of Americans can't pass a basic 5-question financial-literacy quiz. By the time most people learn this stuff, they're already in credit-card debt.

We think 5 minutes a day, starting at 14, can change that.
